Mayuko Kanasugi - 16 years old
When I was 13 years old my father's company posted him to England.
Just as I was getting used to life and becoming really fond of England,
something happened that gave me a terrible shock. |
It was when the Japanese Emperor visited Britain and
some former POWs booed at him and burnt the Japanese flag. At school
we never learnt about the terrible things that the Japanese had done
to the British. Since learning of Keiko's reconciliation work, I now
hope that many former POWs will be able to accept Japan a little more.
I have been to the annual service of reconciliation in London and
former POWs have expressed forgiveness towards Japan and were also
extremely kind to me. I have experienced for myself Agape's wonderful
work and I feel great respect for people who are working for reconciliation. |
